Charles and I headed down to the beach last Saturday
to take pictures and just walk around.
We had just gotten to the pier and caught the sun sliding down behind Catalina Island. All of the cranes and equipment were on the beach, getting ready for the US Open Surfing Competition coming up. The pier was packed with people.
We left the pier and headed across PCH to the Strand. We passed Jack's Surfboards on the way there and I really love this sign! :O)
The Strand Is a new street of shops and the new Shore Break Hotel. Here is a wetsuit wall quilt hanging in the lobby. You don't see many of those!
One of the many things I like about this Hotel is the outside patio which has fire pits and sand.
Leaving the hotel, it was finally the blue hour and I got some pretty good shots of the strand.
Here is the front of the Hotel.
Saturday night traffic on Pacific Coast Highway
Walking back past the pier and
Dukes restaurant. I never get tired of coming down here, I love it!

Mary, I love your pictures of the sunset and "blue hour" (which I have never heard of before...is it the time between sunset and moonrise?). I am so honored for my DIY Faux Coral post to be picked as one of your favorites as Masterpiece Monday. It's my first time ever to be chosen as a fav at a blog party. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteThank you for featuring my pillows! Alot of great stuff here : )
ReplyDeleteNothing like an evening walk near the beach. The best time of day.
ReplyDeleteYou can just feel the fun and excitement in these photos! Fantastic! LOVE LOVE the street scenes with the strings of lights. Nothing this exciting ever happens here. Thank you so much for featuring my project. Made my Friday. Just an Fyi. I am the Single Nester - not the Empty Nester.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! How fun to be able to be so close to the beach! Your blue hour shots are fabulous! Thanks so much for featuring my linen hand towels! Have a great weekend!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for picking me as one of your favorites, I'm so excited! I love the photo you picked, it's one of my favs. Even though I live in TN now, I'm from the OC and love it out there! Spent many a summer day in HB, NPB and Laguna. As much as I love it here, I'll always miss the beach! When ever I'm out in Yorba Linda to visit family, we always hit our favorite beaches! Love your blog and am your newest follower! Thanks again!
