Reality check time. Hi, Everyone! Some of you may remember last Summer as I toiled and sweated outside in the heat, painting my dinning table and chairs white. Then I reupholstered the chair cushions with some nice fresh, clean burlap. I hardly ever get to see the burlap though.
Here is a picture of the main problem. Cute problems, but problems never the less. As a household with four cats, cats who love sitting on dinning room chairs.........
Here's one of my "keepin' it real pictures". I had to protect my clean hair-free burlap. But, did I do all this toiling to look at towel draped chairs every day? No, I don't think so.
I finally sewed some drop cloth chair covers! They were super easy. I just hand stitched some thread and pulled to make the ruffle and then sewed it to the seat cover. I can take these off easily and throw them into the washer. I really like the way they look and now I have two choices.

ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Gotta love our fur babies, but my four leave me with the same problem! I have made similar seat covers and just pop them in the washer...easy! Thanks for featuring my centerpiece! Happy week!...hugs..Debbie
ReplyDeletethere was so much inspiration at your party this week and so many smiles to be had! the wash your hands sign is one of those smiles, and i so appreciate the nod to the interview with Rachel--you can imagine my excitement as she is one of my heroes!

Love your chair covers! Are they attached somehow or do you just lay them down? I'm thinking maybe the burlap underneath holds them in place?
ReplyDeleteOh wow, thank you! I didn't expect to see my vignette there! I'm glad I stopped over :)
ReplyDeleteYour ruffled chair covers were a great idea - they are VERY pretty and practical!!
ReplyDeleteTerrific idea to cover the chairs so you can just toss them in the wash. The covers look great. Certainly would save your canvas covers if you have kitties that scratch. I am now a follower and I grabbed your button. Hope you will stop by my blog to follow and grab a button as well. Hugs, Gayle.
ReplyDeleteI love that sign. So true!!
