Hello I hope you had a Happy Father's Day Everyone!
It's now officially frozen treat season! We all love ice cream, but most are laden with fat and sugar. The low fat, low sugar varieties I've seen are filled with chemicals which I can't even pronounce.
Not wanting to feel left out, I decided to make my own low fat , no sugar added faux ice cream.
It's like a frozen smoothie, I love smoothies! The difference between a smoothie and faux ice cream is the amount of bananas you use. For faux ice cream, you use mostly bananas.
The bananas take the place of the cream in the thickening process. And the only fat, is healthy fat from nuts or seeds.
The recipe is super easy:
- 5 peeled, frozen bananas
- 1 cup of frozen mango chunks, or your favorite fruit
- 1/4 cup of non fat milk, or milk of your choice, if you want dairy free
- 1/4-1/2 cup of nuts, I used roasted, salted sunflower seeds.
I've added some links here in case you're curious about how wonderfully packed with vitamins and minerals the banana, mango and sunflower seeds in this easy to make dessert are! Wow, dessert that's good for you, yay!
I love Summer fruit season and I'm defiantly going to experiment a lot with this recipe! If you decide to try this, please let me know if you have tried any other ingredients and how it turned out, O.K.?
