99 Cent Store Salad

The qualities I like to look for in recipes are, healthy, inexpensive, easy and fast. Sometimes that's a tall order but what good is a frugal meal if it's bad for your health? Or healthy but draining to your wallet? Or even worse, so complicated and time consuming that you order take-out instead of cooking? I love the 99 Cent Store. I've been shopping there for years. It's been one of my smug little secrets. Since the recession though, it's become a routine stop for people who previously wouldn't dream of setting foot inside. The ingredients for this salad were all purchased at the 99 Cent Store. It all came to $4.95 and I had a lot of ingredients left over to use for future recipes. :O)

Two cucumbers, peeled, seeded and sliced
One red onion, very thinly sliced
1/2 basket of cherry tomatoes, halved

  2. Looks delish! We have dollar stores around here, but I don't think any of them sell fresh produce. How nice!

  5. Excellent, 99 Cent Store Salad! I love the name, lol. I thought I did a good job buying Kraft dressing at Buy One Get One Free, but it still cost me $1.50 each! Gotta love the 99 cent store.
