A Tribute to "Old Rusty" and Linky Party #166

Hi! For those of you who are newer to my blog, Old Rusty is the metal fireplace we inherited when we purchased our home. I named it Old Rusty, AKA O.R.,  because it's old and well..... rusty.

We used to use it as a fireplace when we first lived here, just for the novelty of owning our first fireplace. But eventually we became disenchanted with buying wood and cleaning up ashes. 

And because we live in Southern California, we don't even turn on our heater for crying out loud, let alone need to light a fireplace.

But I loved it anyway, so basically, O.R. has served as just a decorative piece and I've had lot's of fun with it over the years.

Every holiday and/or season was a new opportunity to dress Old Rusty up.

                                       

Recently, I've decided to move O.R. to the garage and replace it with the TV. Because for a piece that is decorative and not at all functional, it takes up a lot of room.

Our TV sits next to O.R. and I don't care for the look of two focal points side by side like that. And for various reasons, we need the TV to stay in that general area.

 I've been debating it for awhile, because the true challenge is the raised area in the corner which O.R. sits on.  It makes it difficult to put just any kind of furniture there. 

The perfect and natural solution was to just slide the TV over.

That's why I pulled the dish cabinet out of the garage, which I featured last week. Kind of a decorating dominoes affect.  

So bye-bye old friend, enjoy your new home in the garage, sniff.

As you can see, moving O.R. out frees up a lot of room,
