Welcome to the 198th Masterpiece Monday!
Hi Everyone!
Lately, I've been really loving the look of modern art. It all started this past Summer while I was visiting various model homes. After pricing artwork in the stores, I decided to try and create my own. Here are the actual pictures of the artwork from the model homes I visited, which served as my inspiration for my very first painting.
There were lot's of warm color schemes with fun swirly patterns.
I love this orange and yellow water color behind this desk, it's just beautiful!
some had a softer, more natural look.
The artwork which drew me in the most, were the ones with the ocean themed colors.
I found these two huge pictures on sale at Big lot's. Much cheaper than buying blank artist canvas. The paint I used was my collection of free samples of interior paint. I painted the panels white and let them dry overnight.
I developed a method of adding paint, spraying it with water and randomly dabbing the paint with paper towels.
My hope was to create a free and fluid look using the watery colors I love to decorate with.

ReplyDeleteI love your artwork, Mary! It looks great in your living room and I'm glad to hear that even tho it took longer than you thought to paint it (I think the same thing you did about modern/contemporary art...a few swipes and done) that you had fun doing it. Thanks for sharing all those great photos of art in the model homes you visited...very good inspiration for us. Thanks also for featuring my Fall living room...I really an honored and appreciate it.

ReplyDeleteHoly Smokes, Mary, I love your artwork! It is the mark of true creativity when you can take on an entirely new type of art and excel at it so quickly. I am not surprised it took you 5 weeks but wow - you have such a treasure. I know you were aiming for fluidity and you got it, girl! Fabulousness!
