Observing Model Home Decor Part 1 and Linky Party #209

I love model homes. There is something about the feeling you get the minute you step through the door; Fresh, clean, inviting.

Just to be clear, my smaller, older home will NEVER look like a model home, but I love to learn ways to incorporate ideas I observe from model homes for my own home. To recreate the same feeling. Just on a smaller, thriftier scale.

There are a new set of model homes near my house made by the same company as the last set I shared awhile back, featured HERE  I loved the other ones so much that I was counting down the days until these opened!

As usual, I took way too many pictures for one post so I'll be posting them in parts.
Today I'm showing the downstairs area from residence 3.

 So, on with the tour.......

Whenever you first step through the door of a model home, there is always a little hint in the entryway of what the decor is going to be like. You can almost tell by the painting in the entry way that this model is decorated very modern in shades of blues and grays. (That painting would be so easy to make!)

I love this lamp with a square modern design, yet covered in a natural fabric and I like the natural wood cabinet. It adds the right contrast to the cooler tones. I've noticed that model homes use un-matching furniture pieces that harmonize. I really like that look better than a houseful of carefully and completely matching sets. So much easier to switch out pieces later.

I love the gallery wall, love the placement of the frames and the subjects.

I'm fond of gray and chrome and I like the way the area rug and pillows soften the look.

I love the low, long gas fireplace. I did't get a closeup pic, but there's silver crushed glass inside. I bet it's pretty when lit.

Now, it wouldn't even occur to me to pair these two pillow fabrics together. (And the two below) But they work beautifully.

Love this coffee table book!

This kitchen island is just gorgeous! An island this size would never fit in my kitchen. I love the bar stools and hanging lamps. I would never go this modern in my kitchen, but I still think it's beautiful.

I want this stainless steel sink!  I'm going to save up for it. A sink is something that fits in any size house and is a realistic and practical upgrade.

That back splash is "over the top" pretty! Back splash in a kitchen or bath can really update the room and is a realistic upgrade budget wise. I've always wanted to take one of those tile classes at Home Depot and be one of those bloggers who puts in her own tile. My kitchen is much smaller and I wouldn't need this much back splash.
