Hi, how are you!!!? These pictures were taken on August 28th, our wedding anniversary. And I'm just now posting them today on October 10th.
Here is one of the many rental places in Newport Harbor to rent water craft. In the past, we have rented kayaks on our anniversary. I love the kayaks, but I wanted to rent an electric boat this year, which we've never done before.
This idea turned out to be a real hit with my husband! He was grinning from ear to ear the entire time! He handled the boat like a pro, which left me free to relax and take pictures.
These little boats are designed with a lot of seating. We're thinking of renting another one and bringing some family and friends this December to view the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade.
We boated past some pretty nice yachts.............
This is the channel that leads out to sea. They don't let you take the electric boats out there. There aren't any radios or navigational equipment on the boats, so you could probably get lost at sea pretty easily. But that was fine with us, we were really enjoying the harbor.
The weather was just beautiful that day and I never put on my visor or sunglasses because of the sun shade. There was actually a heat wave and it was 100 degrees, but the sun shade and ocean breeze kept us nice and cool.
This building is called The Balboa Pavillion and has been there since 1906. The area it's located in is now referred to today as "The Fun Zone". You can rent any kind of water craft (like we did) or go on the ferris wheel and other rides. They also have lot's of restaurants, pubs, and shopping and it's fun just to walk around there.
If you don't feel like renting a boat or you're on a budget and want to travel across the harbor to Balboa Island, It only costs one dollar to take the ferry. And for two dollars, you can even bring your car!
