Metamorphosis Monday and Blue Monday

Headboard make-over and mini tour of my bedroom.
My favorite color is blue, but I also have some purple/lavender decor items that are sentimental to me, that I just can't let go of. I decided to keep my room makeover white and beige neutral with blue and lavender accents. The paint I used and always use, is free from the city recycling center. I've painted all of my furniture and my walls and kitchen cabinets with it! It has saved a bundle and helps the environment by not going in a landfill. The bedding and butterfly net were all free from Freecycle.org and match the ceiling fan shade I found at Goodwill. The beautiful dragon lily original oil painting I inherited from my parents as well as the side table underneath it. The blue and lavender peacock pattern stained glass lamp my husband and I picked from the swap-meet when we were first married and the print on the wall is our marriage license. I also showed close ups of the butterflies, some of which have blue rhinestones, and the pillowcase has a light touch of blue.

Pottery Barn Plates At Goodwill

I've been looking for some versatile dinnerware. I shop at Goodwill on a regular basis and wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for. All I knew was that I wanted a whiter, brighter look to my decor. When I saw these four plates, I knew these were what I was looking for. They're very large and will go with a lot of different types of settings. They were only $1.99 each. I'm going to have a table-scaping good time with these.

Sunday Brunch Decor with $0.99 Fushia Roses

I sure hope that my store continues discounting flowers after their prime selling point, at least until the flowers in my yard start to bloom. At this price I enjoy having them around.

I thought I would set a very simple table setting, sometimes less is more. Our glass table was a freebie courtesy of freecycle, as were also the glass plates. The vintage glasses are a family heirloom. I found the metal napkin rings from Goodwill for $1.00. These are our regular place mats, which I really like. They help give our table a casual beachey feel as do the glass pebbles and sea life shaped colored glass pieces around the candle holder. The white tulips I borrowed from the .99 cent bouquets I found on sale.

More 99 Cent Flowers

I love it when my store marks down flowers. These tulips were so pretty, I decided to buy two bunches. During the Winter, it's an occasional frugal luxury that I can afford to enjoy. During Spring and Summer I opt for fresh flowers from our yard instead.

Whiter Furniture, Greener Environment

Here are the before pictures, except for the dresser, which I forgot to take. In the city that I live in, They have a recycling area at the city disposal yard. You can go in and help yourself to whatever you need. They have a lot of paint. I have completely repainted the inside of my house and a few pieces of furniture with perfectly good paint for free. It's really worth checking out to see if your city does this. They also have various cleaners as well. It saves it from the land fill and saves me dollars in my wallet.

Here is the end result. It didn't cost me a dime, just a little time, I made a little rhyme. hehe
