I've always been the type of person who upcycles things, even before blogging came around and before it was in vogue, I've loved making new from old.
In the 1970's my Father, after retiring from the LA PD, worked part time at the local high school. At the end of every school year, students would clean out their lockers and throw away everything you can imagine.
My Grandma taught me to love thrift stores and garage sales, my father taught me to love dumpster diving and curb finds. He would always rescue various things to bring home.
He brought a lot of stuff home from the arts department. Paintings, pottery, macrame, metal sculpture. All with a psychedelic 70's vibe.
Some student had made this copper enameled coated piece. I kept it in my jewelry box for years.
I made it into a necklace probably 15 years ago using some beads my sister and my grandma gave me. and never wore it.
I forgot all about it until the other day when I came across it. I wore to church today for the first time and I really like the colors for Spring and the fact that the pieces remind me of my family.
It also reminds me that God makes all things new, He is the original upcycler!
Romans 6:8-11
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with
Him.
For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He
cannot die again;
death no longer has mastery over Him.
The death He died, He died to sin once for all;
but the life He lives, He lives to God. In the same way,
count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
. I pray that you all have a very blessed Palm Sunday!
