One Dollar Redo

I've been wanting to update this lamp for a while now. I really like it, but the color of it is just a bit too yellowish for me, and the shade has seen better days. But I've been too chicken to try anything, afraid that I'll just make it worse and I'll regret it.
Well for some reason, I got a bee in my bonnet and just decided to take a gamble and trust my instincts.

First I decided to try to make a pattern out of painters tape and wax paper (stronger than tissue paper and more transparent).

I traced the edge of the lamp, but changed my mind and decided to cut it a little longer and straight.

I used some burlap which I already had and attached it to the shade with a hot glue gun.

I wanted to keep original trim which matches the burlap perfectly. After gluing the burlap to the shade, carefully avoiding any glue directly on the trim, I carefully took my time and trimmed the burlap around the shape of the trim.

I used a can of recycled white spray paint on the lamp base and I really like it now. I added some hanging crystals I bought at the swapmeet for one dollar.

That came out wonderfully well! I love the burlap with the salvaged trim, it's a lovely contrast. Now that lamp is definitely upcycled.

Your lamp looks gorgeous, now! Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and trust our instincts, don't we, otherwise we accomplish nothing. I know the feeling. Hugs, Cindy S

Way cuter! I love burlap myself and this turned out really good! I have seen those "yellowed" statues (some not even lamps)and I never thought of painting them just white! Looks so much better!

Great update,
Jody
