Please Pray For Festus

I have to take an unexpected vacation from blogging, to concentrate on nursing Festus back to health.

This evening we came home from a nice family time at a local restaurant to find out that my cat, Festus had been mauled by another animal on his left front leg. We rushed him to the animal hospital to find out that his leg was severely broken and that he needs surgery tomorrow. They had to sedate him and give him pain medication, and lay him on warm water bags because he was going into shock. The doctor said that he had fur from another animal under the claws on his right paw, which meant that he saved his life by fighting back. I just wanted to thank the Lord for not allowing my precious cat die tonight. What we came home to was very grim and my husband and I had to play it down in front of the kids like it wasn't any big deal, so that they wouldn't be upset. It was very hard to keep our emotions in check, but I knew that behaving that way would also help Festus. Festus is like one of our children to us, he was orphaned at 3 weeks old and we bottle fed him and he's been with us for 10 years. He is a very sweet and affectionate cat. I just have to take into perspective that it could have been so much worse than a broken leg. We still have him. And the vet bills? It's just money. Not that we are rich. But we are frugal. And I put away more than enough to cover everything by living within our means and adopting frugal habits. You never know when something like this is going to happen. No one needs extra money worries, when you just want to concentrate on what matters most: love.
