Seahorse Tree Skirt

Hi, how are doing so far this holiday season? Before I share my tree skirt, It's really raining here today, but I thought I would share some pictures of the beach from a few days ago.
Left side of the Huntington Beach pier.....
to the right of the pier
Pacific Coast Highway or "PCH".
Walking towards Main Street from the pier.

And now, my beachy tree skirt!
I decided to use this very hi-tech method of making a circle :O)
Actually, I really liked the way that the plain burlap looked, very simple. But did that stop me? Nope.
I hand stitched down the center of a few strips of drop cloth material, and pulled the thread to form a ruffle.
Then I pinned it around the edge of the skirt and sewed it on with the machine. I also zig-zag stitched the raw edges of the burlap slit.
I cut out six seahorses out of felt, using a stencil and hot glued them on. I cut tiny pieces of silver pipe cleaner for the eyes.

This was free by using left over scraps of fabric I already had. :O)
